JOB Description: 
As a Flight Controls and Hydromechanical Systems Expert you will contribute to aviation safety and environmental compatibility by providing technical expertise to guide and permit decisions in initial airworthiness certification, continuing airworthiness and environmental compatibility at aircraft, equipment, and engine level. You manage and contribute to the approval of applications for Type Certificates (TC), changes to type certificates, and Supplemental Type Certificates (STC). In addition, you will support other core technical activities of the Agency as well as to promote the organization internally and externally. ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide expert advice and contribution to complex certification projects and EASA teams for the determination of the applicable certification basis, the definition of the level of involvement by selecting compliance demonstration items and the agreement of applicants’ certification programmes Verify the compliance demonstrations provided by applicants in cooperation with the certification teams and experts of other disciplines Develop and contribute to the definition of interpretation material or new airworthiness requirements, to cover new product technologies, unconventional uses, and proposals for novel compliance demonstration Ensure investigation of in-service occurrences and defects, and acceptance of corrective actions to maintain acceptable safety standards and follow-up of those actions wherever necessary. Provide technical expertise for other activities of the Agency in order to ensure a high level of airworthiness and environmental compatibility and consistency of the European Aviation Safety System Provide inputs and support to Design Organisation Approval activities, as well as across other EASA Directorates Develop and deliver training on certification and airworthiness processes in the area of flight controls and hydromechanical systems; coach and mentor less experienced professionals. Support the harmonisation of differing opinions on certification or airworthiness processes at department level in the scope of expertise Represent the Agency externally in international working groups, ICAO, standardisation bodies and other international activities
