JOB Description: 
Overall purpose: The coordinator of control operations shall participate in operational activities in the context of joint deployment plans and EU cooperation on coast guard functions and assist to the elaboration, implementation and follow up of these operational activities, with a view to ensure the uniform and effective implementation of EU and applicable international legislation, thus contributing to achieve the objectives of the work programme for EFCA operational units and the general objectives of EFCA. Function and duties: Reporting to the relevant Head of Unit, and as regards the day-to-day work under the direct supervision of the relevant Head of Sector, the tasks of the jobholder include, in particular: • Contribute to the coordination of control and inspection activities by Member States and where appropriate, third countries and other EU Agencies in the scope of the Joint Deployment Plans (JDPs); • Act as a Union inspector in the framework of the relevant JDP and perform fisheries control and other operations on board of airborne and seaborne means; • Act as EFCA representative on board the EFCA chartered inspection means or other means in cooperation with EFCA; • Act as coordinator on duty and contribute to the coordination of inspection campaigns from the EFCA’s Coordination Centre; • Contribute to the assessment of the effectiveness of the relevant JDP and other operational activities; • Assist in developing methodologies for planning and coordination of control and inspection activities by the Member States and non-EU countries; • Analyse fishing patterns and in particular risks that certain activities may not be compliant with the applicable provisions laid down in EU legislation; • Provide support within the framework of the collaboration between EFCA and other EU Agencies in the context of European cooperation on coast guard functions. • Cooperate with other staff working in the Unit or in other Units on specific projects; • Other tasks as assigned. Job environment The jobholder will work in the premises of the Agency in Vigo, Spain. The duties are being performed in a multinational environment, under the Staff regulations and other frameworks of the EU legislation. The job may include frequent missions within and outside the EU, on board aircraft and vessels in non-EU countries, international and EU waters. The main working language of the Agency is English.
